Ding Dong Vintage Shop!

Durham has somewhat of a high street but nothing to be impressed by, I won't lie, but it does have a fantastic vintage shop: Ding Dong Vintage! It is a hoarder's paradise, with hats, bags, dresses, and other assorted goodies crammed into every nook and cranny that the little shop has to offer! But don't just take my word for it, have a look at all the photographs!

And what did I buy from this cave of vintage wonders? Well I traded in an old dress that I used on a shoot and a fur stole and got a lovely 1950s bag and a silk scarf! The shop is located just outside an entrace to the Gates shopping mall and it's down the road from the bus station!

Review: Tiki Tearaway Hair Accessories

So there I was, in New Look, with 5 minutes until closing, and the situation had turned ugly. I wanted a hair flower to match my new dress but could not find anything decent! My left hand wielded a wonky blue rose that stared pathetically up at me and my right hand was hidden by a mess of feathers and lace that only Lady Gaga would find fashionable! Does this sound familiar to you? I am probably not alone in saying that the selection of quality hair accessories available on the high street is dire! They are over-priced, cheaply made, and hideous; however, help is at hand, in the form of a new online shop! Tiki Tearaway does more than just hair flowers. The company is ran by two lovely ladies (which I've had the pleasure of meeting) that ooze pin-up gorgeousness! I have one of my own - the Velma (priced at £6.75) - and I can say that nothing makes you feel so divalicious like a Tiki Tearaway hair flower!

Velma Me with the Velma

See, how cute is Velma?! I used mine in a Bettie Page photoshoot with Essence of Light Photography and it just made me feel so pin-up while I was wearing it! I said earlier that this fabulous company do more than just hair flowers, didn't I? They do little pink clam shells (and double ones too), cherries, birds (so adorable), and cocktail umbrellas. With prices ranging from £4 to £10, who could resist a little bit of Tiki Tearaway dazzle!

You've Got Mail (Accessories)!

There is a growing trend at the moment and I want a piece of it! There are some delightful bags and purses cropping up in high-street shops and online that are designed to look like letters or postcards. I visited my local Accessorize shop (swooning with delight upon entry... I mean really, those shops are feasts for the eyes) and found not one but two uber cute purses which following the trend:
From Paris With Love Purse Sequin Je T'aime Purse
The From Paris With Love Postcard Purse is the cheaper option at £7 and features some lovely lil' pictures of airplanes and hearts; however, the Sequin Je T'aime Coin Purse is only an extra £1 (retailing at £8) and has lovely pearly sequins all over it! I just can't decide which one to buy... someone help! I went online to have a look around in search of some more letter and postcard impersonators and found the delight for £54.99: Paper Planes Overnight Bag.

I don't know about you, the reader, but I hope that this trend is here to stay with little treasures like this!

Review: Boopydoodle Jewellery

I will never say no to a new piece of jewellery. Fact. The reason for this is that one can easily resurrect an old outfit from certain death (by charity bag) with some carefully chosen pieces of jewellery. So when I come across a website chocked with kitsch goodies, I tend to go a lil' crazy with the bank card! Boopydoodle Jewellery is "where cute meets sweet" and they are not lying.

Scuba Blue Bikini Girl Necklace

This little beauty is the Scuba Blue Bikini Girl Necklace which retails at £8.99. The naughty pin-up girl is actually from old playing cards - how great is that?! This charming gal also doubles as a hair accessory, thanks to a clip on the back.

Kitsch Plastic Chequer Board Studs

I like these earrings for their simplicity and their 50s appeal. These studs are aptly named the Kitsch Plastic Chequer Board Studs and also come in baby pink and blue! At £4.99 each, these cuties are so great that I want them all!

Alice In Wonderland Crown Necklace

I am not really a gold person but I have never seen a crown necklace before so I thought I would give it a mention! The Alice In Wonderland Necklace would look fantastic against a plain red or black dress - it looks so sparkly (and a steal for £7.99).

Boopydoodle Jewellery treat each customer order with love and kisses. The jewellery is carefully gift-wrapped in boxes or tissue paper and they aim to dispatch within 24 hours. Well, I think this blogger has finished her rant, now to resist the temptation... eek!

Review: Little Miss Delicious Jewellery

Hello everyone! Thankyou for taking an interest in my new blog about the wonderful world of kitsch and vintage jewellery and accessories avaliable online and in high-street shops. I shall begin my blog with a review about some lovely jewellery: Little Miss Delicious.

Fast Food Charm Bracelet

Little Miss Delicious jewellery is handmade in the UK and the designs are not only unique but packing some serious cuteness! The company was founded in December 2009 by pin-up model and creative whizz, Maxine Ashleigh Johnston. Since then, her gorgeous necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings have adorned rockabilly chicks and glamorous gals from all over the United Kingdom! My favourite piece from the current collection is the Fast Food Charm Bracelet (see above for picture) which is priced at £20; however, girlies looking for a cheap fix will find the Happy Fried Egg Necklace too adorable to resist for just £9.

I mean really... how much cuter can it get?!
